Steve Wiblins 2013 Erin Eyes Sangiovese

Steve Wiblin's Erin Eyes Sangiovese 2013This famous Italian variety has only been planted in the Clare Valley for the last 15-20 years. This single vineyard Sangiovese comes from one of the better blocks in the Sevenhill area.

Aged in mainly older oak for 15 months before final preparation for bottling.

Colour – Tile red with a few vibrant violet shimmers.

Aroma – A typical earthy, herbal and spicy fruit nose.

Palate – What makes Sangiovese such a wonderful wine to go with nearly all Southern European cuisine is the luscious texture of subtle but multi layered fruit characters. Find the black and sour cherry, raspberry and stewed plums. To complete the wine are the dusty savoury and nutty flavours. Great firm tannins.

Drink now and the next two years. Best with pizza, tomato pasta, olives, salami and many cheeses. I like it particularly with very hard cheeses.

Alc/Vol 14.3%
TA 5.87
pH 3.57
Aging Potential 2020
