I was offered a few tonnes of 75 year old Barossa Grenache. I could not say no. Aged for 15 months in mainly 2-3 year old French Oak before blending with 20% Shiraz.
Colour – Medium bright red colour.
Aroma – As with all good Grenache this wine has a subtle confectionary nose and some lifted berry aromas.
Palate – What lovely characters. What this wine doesn’t have doesn’t matter. Perfumed blackberry, strong black pepper and cherries. The spicy savouriness on the finish completes a very enjoyable wine.
Drink with spicy foods such as Chinese, Malay, Thai or Vietnamese.
Alc/Vol 14.8%
TA 6.22
pH 3.58
Aging Potential 6-8 years
